Down Time but Not Down

Live Music has not Died.

As you all know, it has been a rough few months for musicians in the USA, and I am sure around the world.  The COVID-19 pandemic shut down bars, clubs, concert halls, festival venues, and any place where people would gather together to enjoy love music.

So far, I've lost a lot of gigs in March, April, May, June and July, and I am sure there will be more cancellations to come.

Enough of my crying about it.  Live Music is making a comeback in Oregon, with very carefully crafted safety plans in place so that people can come out and be safe.

Band Mates Getting Together

Luckily, my band mates have been able to get together once a week for a few hours to rehearse and unwind.  It's not the same as playing music for people, but it sure beats the hell out of nothing.  We have been safe.  The place where we rehearse has enough room where we can all stay 6 feet apart

Inspiration!

One thing that came out of the down time was the inspiration for a new song,  Stay Home.   I was jumping around YouTube listening to music and came across some old blues recordings by Charley Patton. At the next rehearsal I introduced a little chord arrangement to the guys, and they started playing a Blues Brothers rhythm along with the Charley Patton inspired guitar that I was playing.  The song just started to cook, and the lyrics flowed out of thin air.  Luckily, I was recording the rehearsal like I usually do and we got a good take.  I put together a video with for the new song, Stay Home.  Check it out on YouTube.

LIVE MUSIC RETURNS!

I am totally stoked that one of the venues the band is booked at this spring and summer, Pfeiffer Winery, was able to put together a safety plan and reopen for Live Blues outdoors. Pfeiffer Winery in nestled in the foothills of the Coastal Mountains in Oregon, west of Junction City.  It is a great venue, with a large indoor pavilion (if needed) and a large outdoor garden with an outdoor stage.

Other than hosting some of the best Live Blues in the Pacific Northwest every Friday during the spring and summer, a Pfeiffer Winery's claim to fame is that one of their wines was served at President Obama's inauguration dinner.

My band with be there on July 10, 2020, and again in August and September!

That's about all i have for now.

Enjoy the Music!

Jimmy
