The Band Did Not Play On

Hey peeps!   It has been awhile since I last wrote.  Not that you have been waiting with bated breath for my next post, or anything like that.

Something interesting happened at the last gig with my band.

We were hired to perform at a private party.  It was a surprise birthday party at a big house on a hill.  Literally.

Anyway, we played the first set and took a short break.

After the first song on the second set, the host wanted to make an announcement.  That took awhile.  Then the party wanted to cut the cake for the birthday girl.  By the time they wrapped that up, it was time for the band to stop and for the DJ to kick in.

So, instead of playing two full sets, we played one long set and one song in the second set.

I noticed that my band mates were standing around looking at each other with a wtf look on their faces.  I said it looks like that's a wrap (It was time anyway).

After awhile, the host and several people from the party walked over to the bandstand and said we were great, awesome, and they really enjoyed our music.

The host walked over to me and asked if he was supposed to pay me.  I said, yes, I am the band leader.   He pulls out a wad of bills and peels of a few $100s and hands them to me.

I didn't count it.  I walked over to each of my band mates and paid them.  After I had paid everyone I noticed extra bills in my hand, quite a bit more than I contracted to be paid. The pay I agreed to with the host was good pay, but the extra bills made it great pay.

Anyway, I walked over to the host and told him he had given me more than what we had agreed on.  He said, yes, he knew, he had paid me more because he and his guests really liked the music.

He added that there would be more private party gigs coming.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the Music!

Jimmy
